What We Offer

Preventative Health

Preventative gynecologic care is essential to maintaining lifelong health and wellness. Through regular check-ups, screenings, and patient-centered counseling, we help detect and address issues early—before they become more serious. From annual exams and Pap smears to breast health and contraception management, our goal is to support women at every stage of life with compassionate, personalized care. Preventative visits are also an opportunity to discuss menstrual health, menopause, sexual well-being, and overall wellness in a safe, respectful environment.

  • We warmly welcome younger women to our practice, providing a comforting and personal environment for their introduction to gynecologic care. From the very first visit, we encourage open communication and offer accurate, age-appropriate information to support informed decisions about their health. We are committed to respecting their privacy, fostering trust, and reinforcing the importance of body autonomy. Our goal is to empower young women with knowledge, compassion, and care that grows with them.

  • In addition to routine screenings, women in their 20s and 30s benefit from personalized discussions about elevated health risks and proactive strategies for early detection and prevention. This stage of life is also an ideal time to explore reproductive goals and options surrounding fertility.

While Brookside Gynecology no longer provides obstetrical care beyond the first trimester, we are pleased to offer guidance on fertility planning, prenatal genetic screening, and selecting the right obstetrical provider to support you through pregnancy and beyond.

  • Maintaining health during your 40s and 50s often involves navigating hormonal changes and addressing gynecologic concerns that may arise with age. This is a key time to develop a personalized screening plan, as genetic and age-related risks for certain conditions begin to increase. At Brookside Gynecology, we believe this stage is one of the most important times for thoughtful, individualized care—providing you with the information and support you need to stay well and feel your best.

  • Navigating life’s changes while maintaining a high quality of life often involves making thoughtful decisions about hormone replacement therapy and other available treatment options. Fortunately, choices for women are expanding, with many therapies now safer, more effective, and easier to use. This can also be a confusing time, with conflicting messages about what’s best. That’s why making well-informed decisions is essential to supporting long-term health and vitality.

Regular screening and diagnostic testing remain important during these years. Many standard guidelines may not reflect your personal health profile or unique needs. At Brookside Gynecology, we take the time to understand your full picture—offering a care plan tailored specifically to you.

Our new office at 75 Holly Hill Lane in Greenwich, CT is designed to support the safe and comfortable performance of a wide range of gynecologic procedures in a private, state-of-the-art setting.

Before any procedure, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your concerns so you feel fully informed and at ease. Your privacy is always respected, and your care is delivered with the utmost professionalism and compassion.

We are committed to providing expert, personalized care—right here in the comfort of our office.

  • Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide. In the United States, it is far less common thanks to regular screening, which helps detect precancerous changes early—when they can be treated most effectively.

An abnormal Pap test result can feel stressful and uncertain. We're here to help guide you through the next steps, explain your options, and make the process easier to understand. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based care focused on prevention and early intervention.

We understand that any kind of testing can feel stressful. At Brookside, we prioritize your comfort, privacy, and understanding. We’ll walk you through each step, answer your questions, and ensure you feel safe and supported throughout the experience.

  • Unusual bleeding patterns can be concerning — but you're not alone.
We may recommend testing such as a pelvic ultrasound, saline infusion ultrasound, or a biopsy to better understand what’s going on and ensure everything is okay. All of these procedures can be done within the comfortable Brookside Gynecology office.

We’re here to guide you through each step, explain your options, and help you feel informed and supported throughout the process.

  • Skin changes in the vulvar or vaginal area can often be a sign of underlying conditions that benefit from early diagnosis. At Brookside Gynecology, these areas can be safely and comfortably biopsied in our office using local anesthesia.

Early evaluation is key — identifying and treating abnormalities early can often prevent the need for more extensive procedures or surgery. Just as important, knowing exactly what the condition is allows us to guide treatment more effectively and tailor care to your specific needs.

If you notice any persistent irritation, discoloration, thickening, or other skin changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

  • IUDs are one of the most effective and convenient forms of contraception, with the added benefit that some types can also help manage heavy menstrual bleeding. Getting accurate information about your options is the first step in choosing what’s right for you.

At Brookside Gynecology, we offer in-office IUD placement with ultrasound guidance. This allows us to ensure precise positioning, increase comfort, and provide peace of mind—especially for patients with unique anatomy or prior placement concerns.

  • Nexplanon is a highly effective form of birth control — a small, flexible hormone implant placed just under the skin of the upper arm. It provides up to 3 years of continuous contraception with no daily maintenance.

At Brookside Gynecology, Dr. Carla Williams offers in-office Nexplanon placement. She has advanced training and many years of experience performing this quick and well-tolerated procedure, ensuring comfort and confidence for our patients.

Outpatient Procedures

Once you’ve been thoroughly evaluated, you and your physician will work together to develop a personalized treatment plan. In some cases, this may include outpatient surgery.

Our physicians have privileges at the nearby Greenwich Hospital Helmsley Ambulatory Surgical Care Center, as well as access to the main operating rooms at Greenwich Hospital when needed. Many gynecologic concerns can be effectively addressed using these minimally invasive outpatient methods.

If a more extensive procedure is necessary, the physicians at Brookside Gynecology will guide and coordinate the next steps—ensuring that you remain in trusted, expert hands every step of the way.

  • Hysteroscopy is one of the most commonly performed procedures in gynecology. It allows your physician to look directly inside the uterus using a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope. This minimally invasive approach helps evaluate—and often treat—conditions affecting the uterine lining.

Common procedures performed during hysteroscopy include:

    • Polypectomy – removal of uterine polyps

    • Myomectomy – removal of small fibroids within the uterine cavity

    • Endometrial biopsy – sampling of the uterine lining for further evaluation

Hysteroscopy is typically done on an outpatient basis and is associated with a quick recovery. It is a valuable tool for both diagnosis and treatment, helping provide clarity and relief with minimal disruption.

  • In some cases, your physician may recommend that a biopsy of the vulva, vagina, or cervix be performed at the Helmsley Ambulatory Surgical Care Center rather than in the office. This is usually due to the complexity of the procedure or the benefit of receiving deeper anesthesia for comfort.

Whenever possible, we will offer you a choice between in-office and outpatient procedures and discuss the advantages of each. Our goal is to ensure that your care is delivered in the safest and most comfortable setting for your individual needs.

  • This procedure, typically performed at the main hospital, is used to evaluate whether the fallopian tubes are open (patent) or blocked. It is commonly done as part of a fertility evaluation to help determine potential causes of difficulty conceiving.

  • While we aim to complete most procedures in the comfort of our office, there are times when an outpatient setting may be more appropriate due to comfort, complexity, or safety. These situations may include procedures such as the surgical removal of an obstructive hymenal remnant in teens, the treatment of larger or more sensitive skin lesions, or endometrial biopsies that cannot be completed adequately in the office.

Perimenopause, Menopause and Hormone Therapy

We are a team of experienced menopause practitioners dedicated to guiding women through the journey from perimenopause to menopause and beyond. In recent years, there have been many advances in helping people navigate the menopausal transition. While many experience this time of life without difficulty, others may find the changes more challenging. If you do, know that there are effective options to help you feel like yourself again.

Finding the right therapy can be straightforward for some and take more time for others. Either way, we are here to support you. Together, we will review your options, always balancing the importance of your quality of life with any potential risks, so that your care feels both safe and personalized.
