Office Testing/Procedures
Brookside Gynecology offers a full range of gynecological office services include standard screenings for cancer, STDs and incontinences as well as Essure Sterilization and other minimally invasive procedures and treatments. We also provide:
- First Trimester Genetic Screening
Brookside Gynecology offers first trimester genetic screening for Downs Syndrome and other genetic abnormalities. Additional information on first trimester screening is available through NTD Laboratories and the Fetal Medicine Foundation.
- Incontinence Evaluation
Many women experience problems with urination, whether it is leakage with excercise, laughing, coughing or feeling the need to urinate. We work with you to define the issues, evaluate the state of the art Urodynamic testing, and emphasize non-surgical treatment. Dr. Williams has experience with the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of urinary leakage, frequency and feelings of urgent need to urinate. - Ultrasound
Ultrasound is performed by our female Sonographer, in Brookside's comfortable and private ultrasound suite. An ultrasound exam can help find causes of pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding or other menstrual problems. It can be used to identify a pelvic mass and to diagnose and treat infertility among other things.
- Blood Draw Station
A Greenwich Hospital satellite blood drawing station is located within our Greenwich office for our patient’s convenience.
Minimally Invasive Procedures
- Essure® Sterilization
Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that works with the body to create a natural barrier against pregnancy.
- Her Option®
Her Option® is a safe and effective ablation procedure used to treat excessive menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia).
- Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscope is a thin, lighted telescope-like device. It is inserted through your vagina into your uterus. The hysteroscope transmits the image of your uterus onto a screen. This allows the doctor to see the inside of the uterus during the procedure. Hysteroscopy can be used to diagnose or treat a problem.
- Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure done when a Pap test result shows abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix. Colposcopy provides more information about the abnormal cells. Colposcopy also may be used to further assess genital warts on the cervix, cervicitis (an inflamed cervix), bleeding and benign (not cancer) growths, such as polyps and pain.
- LEEP
LEEP is one way to remove abnormal cells from the cervix that may be identified by a PAP test. LEEP uses a thin wire loop that acts like a scalpel (surgical knife). An electric current is passed through the loop, which cuts away a thin layer of the cervix.
